A Good Old Texas Shootout

Normally the first game of the season the defense is ahead of the offense. This was not the case Thursday night in a good old fashion Texas shootout between Keller Timber Creek and Rockwall-Heath. Heath pulled out a thriller 56-49 over a tough Timber Creek team.

Heath senior quarterback Josh Hoover threw for 398 yards and four touchdowns. Hoover (Indiana commit), mixed quick passes and post bombs to Jay Fair and Jordan Nabors to lead the Hawks to victory. Fair (Auburn commit) and Nabors (Baylor) both had over 100 yards and two touchdowns a piece.

Heath running back Zach Evans lead the Yellowjacket rushing attack with 177 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Evans, who is coming off of a knee injury last year showed no signs of rush as he broke off multiple long runs.

Senior quarterback Jacob Porter led the Timber Creek offense with 415 yards through the air and five touchdowns. His favorite target on the night was senior wide receiver Lonnie Johnson who had five of touchdowns . Johnson, had nine catches for 125, three touchdowns and two touchdowns on the ground.

Heath looks to go 2-0 against a tough Southlake Carroll (TX) team next Thursday. Timber Creek will look to get their first win against a talented Lewisville (TX) team.
