Brandid Sports: Gunter (TX) Powers Through Millsap (TX)

Two-time state champion Gunter (TX) got off to a fast start that led to a 62-12 victory over Millsap (TX) at Mustang-Panther Stadium. Gunter used an explosive offense and stifling defense to move on to third round of the Texas High School 3A Division II playoffs.

Gunter Head Football Coach Jake Fieszel was excited about the big victory. "I thought we came out n executed in all three phases. Our coaches came up with a good game plan and the kids came out an executed well."

Gunter (TX) QB Hudson "Hut" Graham lead the Tigers with 233 yards 5 Total touchdowns (3 TDs Passing/2 TDs Rushing). The Texas Tech commit connected with Cole Lemons and Cannon Lemberg for his touchdown passes in the first half. "Coming out we knew we had to get the job done, so we played together. The Start of the game sets the tempo for the rest of it. It really helped us build that momentum to get on a roll." Graham

The offense line opened up holes for explosive runs all night. Ashton Bennett, Ethan Sloan, Ivy Hellman, and Brayden Hinton all found there way in the end zone in the first 24 minutes of play. "It feels good to come out practice all week, prepare all week, and come out with a big dub." Sloan

The Gunter defense came out and played lights out holding Millsap to only 73 total yards in the first half. Safety Cooper Wade led the defense with 2 tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and an interception. Lane Dophied, Bennett, and Mario Cuevas all recorded turnovers also.

Millsap did put up some points in the second half. Aldo Calvillo and Waylan Dunn were two standouts for the Bulldogs. Millsap ends their season at 6-6.
