The first battle of many for the the Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) crown between 6A Division I Runner Up Duncanville Panthers and the defending 5A Division I State Champions Dallas South Oak Cliff Golden Bears was a physical thriller. Duncanville would got the 21-victory, but it was a closer game than the score reflects.

Duncanville Coach Reginald Samples and SOC Coach Jason Todd

Both defenses were physical and swarm to the ball, making it hard for both offenses to get anything started. SOC got on the board first with a 5-yard Danny Green Touchdown Run in the middle of the first quarter. Green lead SOC in rushing with 33 yards.

The Panthers would answer right back, as Junior RB Caden Durham took the inside lead zone 99-yards to tie it up at 7 at the end of the first quarter. Durham lead the Panthers in rushing with 119 yards on only 9 carries and Duncanville rushed for a total 201 yards.

Duncanville Quarterbacks Jamier Willis and Keelon Russell made the most of their 13 passes with both throwing for one touchdown each. Willis threw a touchdown to TE Zach Turner and Russell threw the final score of the game to RB Kaleb Kenney to seal the victory. Willis added 63 yards on the ground, before going down with a leg injury in the second half.

The Golden Bears Offense was lead by transfer Quarterback Tray Walton who threw for 98 yards. His leading Wideouts were Corinthean Coleman and Randy Reece who both had 3 catches. The SOC defense was lead by DB Taylor Starling who had 2 Interceptions. The bears defense made plays at all three levels and will be the top defense in 5A this year.
