The Battle for 6-5A

Dallas – The top two teams in 6-5A Division II squared off for first place in the district standings.


Dallas South Oak Cliff held off a tough Mesquite Poteet squad 31-17 Friday night. South Oak Cliff (SOC) used a powerful run game and stout defense to remain undefeated in district play. SOC Running Back Cam Davis, a San Diego State commit, led the Golden Bear offense with 214 yards and three touchdowns. Mikeviun Titus, a Texas Southern commit, ran for 95 yards on 11 carries.


QB Kevin Henry-Jennings had 95 yards through the air, but also threw 2 interceptions. Stanford commit, Jimmy Wyrick, led the Golden Bear defense with 2 interceptions and 5 solo tackles.


The defensive line and linebackers dominated the line of scrimmage. The SOC defense held the Poteet offense to less than 150 total yards.


Mesquite Poteet offense was lead by Quarterback Jaylon Police who threw for 104 yards and 3 picks. Xzaveon Jeans contributed 53 yards on the ground. Poteet’s Jeremiah Anukem had an interception return for a touchdown and made plays in every phase of the game.

SOC moves to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in district. Poteet fall to 3-3 and 1-3 in district.
