Thursday night's game between Garland (TX) and Garland Sachse (TX) was for the 9-6A. It was a back and forth offensive battle that Garland ended up pulling out a 54-41 victory to stay undefeated.

The Owl offense was led by senior quarterback Cergio Perez and his 7 touchdown performance. Perez threw for 322 yard and 6 touchdowns, while adding another touchdown on the ground. The owls racked up over 500 yards behind a stout offensive line that open holes for runners and the pocket clean for Perez.

SMU commit Jordan Hudson lead the receiving core with 134 yards and 4 touchdown receiving. Ellis Rodgers had a big night with 150 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns.

The Owl's defense had their hands full with an explosive Sachse offense, but made some big plays when they needed them. Senior cornerbacks Aaron King and Christian Cooper had 2 key interceptions at crucial times in the game.

Virginia Tech commit Alex Orji, kept the Mustangs in the game with long pass plays and his physical running style. Orji, passed for 267 yards and a score, while rushing for 132 yards and 5 touchdowns. The young Mustangs fought hard, but the senior heavy Owls were too much.

Garland (7-0) will host North Garland next week and Sachse (4-3) will play South Garland.
