Allen (TX) Gets Gritty Win Over Lewisville (TX)


The Texas High School playoffs began on a cold and drury Thursday night under the lights at Clarke Stadium in Plano, Texas. The Allen Eagles and Lewisville Fighting Farmers would pull out a 18-17 victory to move on to the 2nd Round of the Texas High School 6A Playoffs.


Allen used 3 Quarterbacks to pull out the win after junior quarterback Brady Bricker went down with an injury in the first half. Bricker had a 21-yard touchdown run before leaving the game with an injury. Senior Dylan Chapman and sophomore Brett Holloway came in and lead the offense the rest of the way.

Junior Micah Ellis (62 yards) and Senior Amir McDowell (28 yards) led the Eagles run game with with Bricker (38 yards) out. Senior Wideout Quinton House-Hammonds led the Eagles in receiving with 3 catches for 24 yards.

The Allen special teams and were the difference in the game. The Eagles punt team recorded a safety after a botched snap in the and Sophomore WideOut Caleb Smith had a 96 yards for a touchdown that put the Eagles ahead for good. While Sophomore Cornerback Kai Wheaton sealed the victory with a late interception.

Lewisville used the run game to move the ball. Senior Quarterback Ethan Terrell led the Lewisville that outgained the Eagles in total yards 231-170. The Jackson State commit, finished the night with 211 total yards and a score on the night. Tenell Hill added a scored on a 20-yard touchdown run. JJ Gonzales was the leading pass catcher with 5 catches for 49 yards.


The Allen Eagles (7-4) will face Arlington Martin (8-3) at Dragon Stadium Friday at 7pm in the next round.
